Hockey Love
Ok, so I Love to play hockey. I’ve played it ever since I could walk, so since about the age of three. Nearly all of my friends I have ever had have been connected to hockey in some which way or form, minus the school friends. My dad
played hockey, and so did my uncle. So I guess you could say that it’s a bit in my blood. But growing up playing hockey in Woodbury, you begin to notice how political it all is. Examples; tryouts, hockey camps, and elite teams, its all in who you know not your skill level. Another real life example, my brother made the Reebok Team, but one of the dads on my team knows the coach so he put in a good word and a recommendation and he was in. Grant it he is still one of the best players on the team. Not only is hockey in Woodbury political but it is clicky. There are a few groups within the team. The funny thing about all of this is that when one of the group members is separate from the rest, they have a tendency to talk about another player and how “bad” they are. Every time one of these members comes to complain to me, something my mom always says to me goes through my head, “JELOUS!” a lot of the times people complain about the people that are better than them, or have more friends than them. I’m not going to deny it but that’s probably the only reason I complain (if I ever do). You might be wondering what these two things have to do with the title Hockey Love. Well, looking back on the hockey season I wonder whether I want to do it again. Our team has nearly no chemistry, and having heard what people have told me about other teammates I wonder what they say about me when I’m not around. I try to be friends with everyone in hopes that they aren’t douches to me behind my back. But the whole thing is kind of just getting annoying. I wonder if other cities/teams are like this. I will never know. All I can do is enjoy the game I love, Hockey.
